First published in 1667, John Milton's narrative poem presents an epic sweep of salvation history centered in the Garden of Eden. Through the retelling of the story of Adam and Eve, Milton addresses the origin of evil and suffering in the world and God’s redemptive dealings with mankind.
Our Legacy Edition is neither abridged nor modernized and includes explanatory notes in the margins. We scanned 50 of Gustave Doré's dramatic wood-engraved illustrations, and Stephen Crotts designed a classic cloth cover with gold foil.
